The ACA’s goal is to be excessively good at doing absolutely nothing, while involving as many people as possible in the process. We’re not sure if we’re failing miserably at it or succeeding beyond our wildest dreams. Frankly, we don’t know the difference.

Ok... it's not Cheney on the mic and Powell on the turntables, but it's probably as close as you're gonna get. Unfortunately though, these militant republican rappers aren't even that bad... you know... for Republicans. Even Liberal Democratic Education is Wack! sounds almost like a legitimate rap.

I couldn't help noticing that Smokey the Bear is going through a little makeover. Not that I'm a Smokey the Bear fanatic or anything but doesn't this happen like every year? Maybe it's just Deja Vu. Anyway... this makeover makes Smokey the Bear only the 17th cartoon, public service spokesperson, or breakfast cereal icon to be made edgier since 1995. This NEW Smokey is apparantly darker and more badass than previous versions which depicted Smokey praying that people will pleeease not leave fires unattended. This new take no crap Smokey is a throwback to the pre-Smokey period in which fire-prevention posters typically depicted demonic skeletons on horseback, riding through the woods torching everything. The first depiction of Smokey had a slightly less memorable slogan. "Only you can prevent 9 out of 10 forest fires." After that there was the questionable "Hold it 'til it's cold" slogan.

According to one Forest Fire prevention guy (I forget where I saw it, but I did), "You CAN'T prevent forest fires from happening. Not even YOU. Especially not YOU." The AD Council's new philosophy is to focus on adults (who tend to smoke and have access to gasoline and lighter fluid and stuff like that) instead of children (who can't even light a match without help) as the causes of all these fires. Many liken this to when The Simpsons started focusing more on Homer than Bart. But kids will still have a place at the Smokey the Bear website, thanks to interactive Flash games like this one where you help Ranger Bob cross a wildlife infested river and get to the fire on the other side. Any resemblence to Frogger is completely baseless.

"Ok, Sir. Poochie here comes with a 36 month (or 252 in dog-months) lease with a low APR and zero down with an option to buy. Now this doesn't cover basic costs like food, shelter, routine mainanence. And we'll also need a security deposit to protect us in the event of any damage or custom modifications you may choose to do on your pet. In other words: you neuter it. you bought it.

Looks like there is now scientific evidence for the beer goggles phenomenon. I wish I could have been a part of that study.

Here's a tell all graphic. The ACA usually averages around 50 hits a week... but apparantly, only when Adam's around. Otherwise... it averages 6, as is true for the ACA's recent 3 week hiatus. So does this mean that Adam himself accounts for 88% of the ACA's traffic? (That figure seems a little low actually). But the real question is: Where were the interns while the boss was out of town??? Management is starting to seriously question it's 401- A.0.K. intern retirement program and weekly ice cream socials.
